Recipes - Avocado Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 piece thick cut grainy bread
  • ½ large ripe avocado
  • 1-2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of Spice Krewe Bayou Blend
  • Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Steps

  1. Pick a great avocado (when they are ready, they should just have the slightest give to them).
  2. For the halved avocado, remove the pit from the avocado and discard the pit. Remove the avocado from the skin (discard the skin) and place the avocado into a medium bowl and mash it with a fork.
  3. Season with Spice Krewe Bayou Blend.
  4. Then, squeeze half a lemon over the mixture and stir everything together until evenly mixed.
  5. Toast the piece of bread until the bread is just golden brown, about 2-3 minutes depending on the thickness of the bread.
  6. Slather the mashed avocado on top of the toast. Add more salt and pepper if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

Tip: Don't have any lemons on hand? No problem! You can always substitute lime juice in this recipe. Just remember to adjust the amount you use—Lime juice is quite a bit tarter than lemon juice, so start with less and add more to taste.
